Rupert House School Expands its Prep School Offering
Rupert House is delighted to announce that, due to high demand, it is expanding its current prep school offering to include two form entry to its Prep School from September 2022.
The happy and high-achieving independent prep school, which became fully co-educational last year, has three natural entry points – Nursery for children aged 3; Reception for children aged 4; and Year 3 for children aged 7. Where space allows, however, children will be considered for, and accepted into, other year groups throughout the school.
Since becoming fully co-educational, Rupert House has seen close to a 20% increase in pupil numbers year-on-year and is now operating a waiting list for Reception places for the 2023 academic year, with limited places remaining for Reception 2022.
Head of School, Nick Armitage, comments: “As a result of this surge in demand, we have made the strategic decision to increase our Prep School offering and will now be creating two dedicated Year 3 forms from the beginning of the 2022 academic year.
“Destination schools are always a source of great interest to parents. At Rupert House, our children leave at the end of Year 6 so, academically, we are working towards 11+ entry – giving our children the choice to attend senior schools in the independent, state and grammar sectors.
“From Year 3 onwards, pupils are taught by specialist subject teachers in Music, Art, Science, Languages and Sport. Most recently, we have extended our creative offering with the creation of a new DT workshop and employment of a dedicated DT teacher. Our expert coaches teach a wide variety of sports including tennis, gymnastics, hockey, rugby and cricket, putting us in a strong position to deliver a fully co-ed sports curriculum and our pupils enjoy regular fixtures against other local schools with mixed teams and abilities. In addition, the close relationships we enjoy with Henley Rugby Club, Henley Cricket Club and Henley Leisure Centre enable us to extend our facilities beyond those of our immediate grounds, playing fields and Forest School.
“Our extra-curricular school clubs provide something for everyone. They include tennis, football, rugby, netball, hockey, breakdancing, athletics, jazz dance, ballet, gymnastics, animation, drama, drumming and climate change.
“At Rupert House, our values of courage, creativity, respect and resilience are underpinned by kindness. Our belief is that an inclusive environment is integral to a child’s social and behavioural development and that all children can contribute positively to life and lessons at Rupert House. Developing self-esteem, encouraging healthy competition and developing mutual respect are just a few of the many benefits of a co-education system.”
