Admissions process

Applying for a Place

Applying to Rupert House is very straightforward. The first step is to call our Registrar, Arlette Halfhead or email her on admissions@ruperthouse.co.uk to arrange a convenient date to visit, to check availability of places, or to discuss any aspect of the admissions process.

We do suggest that you register your child, either before or after your visit, by completing and submitting the Registration form together with the Registration fee of £75 to ensure that your child’s name is on our Entry List.

On completion of a successful taster day, we offer places based on a first come, first served basis to those who have registered. Therefore, it is advisable to do so as early as possible.

You will then be contacted in the year before your child is due to start. In order to confirm the place, you will need to complete an Entry Form and make a Deposit payment of £600 which will be credited to your final account.

Assessment

Where appropriate, a report will be requested from the Headteacher of the child’s current school.  All children joining Rupert House in Years 3 to 6 will be required to do a taster day to spend a day with their prospective class as part of the admissions process or attend a discovery day. During the day, informal assessments will take place in a minimum of English and Mathematics, and some Cognitive Ability Tests in order to gain a broad view of a child’s ability and aptitude. This is not an entrance examination but an attempt to ensure that the School can most effectively gauge the suitable entry for that pupil into a particular form, set or stream. These tests may also be applied to pupils entering in pre-prep at the discretion of the school.
