Head

  • Mr Nick Armitage

    Head

I can remember leaving my senior school and thinking ‘Who on earth would want to be a teacher, given the way we have treated them?’ Less than a year later, having worked at a Boys’ Prep School in South Africa as part of a GAP year pre-University, I had changed my mind dramatically, having had the most wonderful time. Following a degree in Art History at UEA and 5 years working in the Advertising industry in London, it took my wife’s questioning to nudge me to make the jump into teaching, from which I have never looked back.

Deputy Head Pastoral

  • Mrs Susie Newman

    Deputy Head Pastoral

I was born and brought up in London, of which I am enormously proud, and I have fond memories as a very young teenager of travelling ‘into town’ on my own and beachcombing the banks of the Thames. I attended a wonderful old grammar school where I developed my love of sport, foreign languages and music. After school I spent an incredibly happy three years in the beautiful city of Durham where I studied Russian.

Deputy Head Academic

  • Mrs Alice Fletcher

    Deputy Head Academic

Rupert House has always been on my radar. Growing up in Oxfordshire, I had good friends at the school and in my teen years I walked past the big blue door many times whilst working at the regatta, the festival and at Phyllis Court. However, it was not until a few years later that I finally stepped behind that blue door.

Head of English

  • Mrs Hannah Clough

    Head of English

I have wanted to be a teacher since I can remember – it is, after all, the family business! I have been lucky enough to teach children from all over the world due to my time in international schools in Spain, where I taught in Madrid and Marbella. I was a little unsure about the prospect of cold and rainy weather upon my return to the UK, and while it is indeed cold and wet, I am delighted to have been given the friendliest and warmest welcome from everyone at Rupert House since my arrival.

Head of Art

  • Mrs Nicki Poulter

    Head of Art

I trained at the Roehampton Institute in London and worked as a Primary school teacher in West London then Marlow. After teaching for more than 25 years, I can honestly say I’ve found my home at Rupert House. I find it such a positive and exciting place to teach. I love the supportive, family atmosphere and the children and staff are fantastic; it’s a joy to come to work! Art is so very important. There are so many pressures on children nowadays and in the Art room they have a safe and inspiring place where they can explore their creativity. Here, we provide somewhere where the children can enjoy their interests and ideas and are able to unwind.

Head of DT

  • Mr Mike Whitfield

    Head of DT

During the past 30 years, I have taught apprentices, school children, international exchange students and helped the less practical with degrees and doctorates. Today, I find myself as Head of DT at Rupert House, and hope to develop younger children’s practical skills, giving them confidence with tools and various materials. But above all, I aim to open their eyes to design, and how it is a part of our everyday lives. How lucky am I?!

Year 1 Teacher

  • Mrs Francis Harris

    Year 1 Teacher

I have worked at Rupert House for 8years, during which time I have also had two daughters. I am a Y1 teacher which I love because each term we have a different, exciting topic. We learn about dinosaurs, explorers, air travel and space! Some of my favourite things about Rupert House are the extracurricular activities. We have an amazing Forest School, which the children are so at home in. There is not a better place to be on a sunny day.

  • Miss Lucy Potts

    Year 1 Teacher

Growing up I always wanted to follow in the footsteps of my Mum and become a teacher. After diverting to Media Communications and Publishing at university, I rediscovered my interest in education when I became a Teaching Assistant in a SEN school and loved being a part of helping children learn and discover new passions and interests each day. I joined Rupert House after gaining QTS. Each day I get so much enjoyment from helping the children discover new and important facts and ideas which they can take with them through to senior school and beyond.

Nursery Teacher

  • Mrs Hilary Macartney

    Nursery Teacher

I have always worked with creative young people in education. Whether teaching Performing Arts in various high school colleges or running the Movement department at E15 Acting School. I focused on bringing the best artistic expressions out in my students, by encouraging them to be as open and honest as a 3 year old! I now enjoy running the Nursery at Rupert House, nurturing 3 and 4 year-olds at the start of their exciting learning journey. Every day is full of awe and wonder, chaos and love when it comes to the Nursery Way at Rupert House!
