Year 4 conquer Oxford Castle
Year 4 had a great trip to Oxford Castle on Monday 25th November.
They enjoyed a fantastic workshop and tour based on Castles and learned that Oxford Castle is a Motte and Bailey Castle and that some of its walls are 3m thick.
In the workshop, children worked in groups to build a strong tower that would withstand invasion. They also designed catapults and tested them out on a model castle.
It was a busy day with lots of exercise, climbing the Motte and St George's tower. Both have fantastic views of Oxford.
In addition to the Castle, they toured the prison and saw the varied and challenging conditions that prisoners as young as 7 years old would have faced.
A great day all round!
