Year 5 maths challenge

On Tuesday 19th November, Rupert House hosted a Maths Challenge for Year 5 children at local schools.

Run by Head of Maths, Mr Dwinell, the event saw teams from St Mary's Prep, Trinity Primary School, St Edward's Prep and Sacred Heart Primary School compete in three rounds of arithmetic, problem-solving and spatial reasoning questions.

Well done to the team from St Edward's Prep, who came first place!

A member of staff from a visiting school wrote to cues followin the event:

"Thank you for hosting such a fantastic event—it was both thoroughly worthwhile and hugely enjoyable. It was a pleasure to visit your school, and our pupils truly appreciated the opportunity to participate.

I must commend Sam for his excellent leadership in organising and delivering the event. It was clear he had given a great deal of thought to the planning and preparation. The activities were well-explained, ran seamlessly, and adhered to the schedule, which was a real testament to his efforts.

The range of challenges was impressive, encompassing logical thinking, algebraic reasoning, mental arithmetic, and spatial tasks. The inclusion of the Kahoot round brought an exciting and dynamic element to the competition. The challenging questions combined with the ever-changing leaderboard created a real sense of engagement, with the visual display adding to the energy in the room.

Thank you once again for organising such an engaging and well-executed event. We look forward to future opportunities to collaborate with your school."
