Space talk by 102 year old James

Our Year 5 pupils were captivated by 102 year old James from The Manor care home when he came in to talk to them about space and the plant earth.

He explained all sorts of things to the children including the structure of the earth, the ice ages, magnetic compasses, glaciers, volcanoes, lightening storms, stars and constellations!

James told them that he was an electrical engineer who was involved in building power stations. The children asked lots of questions and found out that he once saw Saturn through a pair of binoculars in Sedan and is not keen on the idea of actually going into space at his age!

The talk complimented the children's current topic on space.

James left them with a few words of wisdom: Ask your teachers questions - never stop asking questions!
