Worry monsters

In the Prep Happy Hub this week, the Year 4 children discussed how they feel when they are stressed and which healthy coping strategies they use.

Madame Sheriff was impressed by their suggestions which included writing worries and putting them in a “worry box or worry monster!”, taking a big breath in and out, going outside or stroking a pet.

The children understood the concept of “the stress bucket” and the need to empty our bucket before it overflows. The half-term will be a great opportunity to try out some new strategies.

A great book recommendation with lots of practical tips to support children’s mental health for parents :

“A guide to the Mental health of children and young people, Q&A for parents, teachers and carers” by Dr Meinou Simmons.
