Henley Youth Festival
We have been very lucky to take part in so many of the Henley Youth Festival events again this year.
Here are a few of the things we've been up to...
The Zoo that Comes to You
Henley Youth Festival’s ‘The Zoo That Comes to You’ visited Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 on Tuesday. The children learned about lots of different animals in their collection such as a kea bird, a blue iguana, an orangutan, a sea turtle, and a white rhino. Of course, these animals were all puppets! The two wildlife enthusiasts were brilliant with the children, and we all learned a lot about the conservation of wildlife and our planet. The children and teachers were enamoured by the whole show!

Flamenco Dancing with Danielle Yglesia
Danielle came in to teach Year 4 how to flamenco dance. They enjoyed practising moves including hand-clapping, finger-clicking and feet-tapping, and learned all about the history and stories behind the art of flamenco dancing.
The Rude Science Show at The Kenton Theatre
Year 4 enjoyed a trip to the Kenton Theatre today to see the acclaimed Rude Science Show by the scientist and TV presenter Stefan Gates. The show featured burps, farts, snot, scabs, pee, vomit, snot, blood, sweat and tears, all brought to life with exciting theatricality!
Hamlet at St Marys
On Tuesday 7th March Year 5 went to see a production of Hamlet at St Mary’s school in Henley. The children were treated to top-notch acting from the theatre group, who acted out the famous Shakespeare tragedy alongside explaining each scene and discussing with the children what the characters might be thinking at various moments. There was a lot of audience participation involved, and a number of children from Rupert House showed off their own acting skills in roles such as Polonius, Guildenstern and a rather convincing tree. The children thoroughly enjoyed the performance, and spent the whole journey back to school chattering about the plot and discussing their thoughts (and their outrage about the death of almost the entire cast!). It was a fantastic morning and the children learned so much.
Art Competition
Well done to all the children who won a prize for their entries in the HYF art competition. They have been invited to a prize-giving ceremony at the town hall tomorrow at 12pm. You can see the winning entries here:
