8th March 2024
Henley Youth Festival has been the running theme throughout this week with all children taking part in one or more of the events either in school or out and about at various local venues.
Several Rupert House pupils also entered music events or submitted artwork and a number of them were successful in winning prizes in their age category. You can find out more about our involvement in the Henley Youth Festival (which continues into next week for some children) here.
In addition to the HYF events, Year 5 visited a mosque as part of their religious studies topic this term, Year 2 enjoyed a trip to Brighton, we held an ABRSM music concert, played netball and rugby fixtures, learned about food nutrition and yesterday was, of course, World Book Day. The staff and I were very impressed by the effort that had gone into the costumes this year - there were some incredibly imaginative characters walking around school! I hope everyone enjoyed the day. Mrs Clough put a lot of work into ensuring the children enjoyed a fun, yet educational, literary-themed day which you can read all about here.
Today is International Women's Day and the theme this year is 'Inspire Inclusion'. I spoke about this in my assembly on Monday with the key message being that we are an inclusive community where no-one should be made to feel an outsider and the fact that we all play an important part in ensuring this is the case.
Thank you to the Year 5 parents who attended the online parents’ meetings this week. I must apologise for any technical difficulties that some of you may have encountered. If you missed any of your slots, please do get in touch with the relevant teacher directly or with the Office and we will endeavour to arrange a convenient time to talk with you.
Announcement follow-up meeting
If anyone was not able to attend one of the previous two meetings or has any further questions about the announcement that Rupert House is to join the Wishford Schools Group, we are holding another meeting at 8.30am on Wednesday 20th March in the Music Studio. To give an idea of numbers and any specific questions you would like answered, please fill in this form if you plan to attend.
NOMAD Easter Egg Donation
FoRH and the school will again be supporting children, young people and families in the local area who find themselves in challenging circumstances via Henley NOMAD Food Bank. If you would like to donate an Easter Egg or an Easter-related chocolate item there will be a collection table inside the front door from Monday 11th until Thursday 21st March. It would be super if the children could be involved in the selection of the eggs and purchase of, if they receive pocket money, thinking specifically of a child of their age, to engage them in this charitable activity. I will be making mention of this in Assembly on Monday.
Next week
Next week is our STEAM week which we are very much looking forward to! We have a timetable of ‘Time’ themed activities lined up for the children including AI and amination workshops, a visit from some robots and a trip to see a working clock tower. All these activities will take place within the school day. We also have the Prep House Music Concert at the Town Hall on Tuesday evening from 6.30pm and it is Comic Relief on Friday.
Best wishes,
Nick Armitage
