Welcome to Rupert House

It is hard to believe we are already at the end of the second week of term. Preparations for the Oliver performance are well underway and it is always a joy to hear the songs being sung with such enthusiasm each time I walk past the music room.

In Assembly on Monday, Sophia S joined me at the front to talk to the children about the Eid celebrations she had enjoyed on Friday with her family. She spoke with such confidence, showing the children the beautiful outfit she wore for the occasion, talking about the delicious food they had eaten and we all learned about the importance of the event in the Muslim calendar, which she likened to Christmas.

The Year 6 children return today, and we are all looking forward to hearing about how they got on in Rue, France, on their residential trip. I have enjoyed seeing the photographs pop up on Instagram each day – they have certainly packed a lot of activities into the week!

The week ahead

Next week is another busy one, with the May fair and Coronation celebrations taking place on Friday for the whole school. The EYFS children have been challenged to make a carriage for King Charles out of recyclables and shall be coming into school dressed as kings and queens. The rest of the school are invited to come into school dressed in red, white and blue, and donning their homemade crowns. There will be a Coronation-themed May fair on the lawn organised by the FoRH and parents are invited to join for a tea party from 3pm onwards. There is more information on this below.

There is no school on Monday as it is a bank holiday. School class photographs are being taken on Tuesday so please remember smart summer uniform and blazers. See more information on this below. Also, the next Meet the Head coffee morning is taking place on Wednesday at 8.30am in the Studio. Pete Thomas from Reading Blue Coat school is joining us. Reading Blue Coat is a senior school just 5 miles from Henley which is becoming co-ed from Year 7 in September this year. Please register your attendance with this short form.

Summer Ball

The Rupert House Summer Ball, hosted by the Friends and the school, is taking place on Saturday 17th June. For the first time for a number of years this will be held on the school site in a fabulous marquee. It promises to be a fantastic evening of food and entertainment for a very reasonable price. Tickets will be on sale for one week only from Wednesday 3rd May. Please read the letter below for more information.

Muddy Stilettos

We recently had a visit from Muddy Stilettos who wrote a lovely review of the school which you may like to read here.

Great School Run of Henley

Finally, a reminder that the Great School Run is happening this Sunday at 9am at Stonor. This was a super event last year and we know it will be even bigger and better this year. It is free to enter but donations to Sue Ryder would be much appreciated. For more information, please see the event website: www.thegreatschoolrun.org. I hope to see you there!

Have a wonderful long weekend.

Wish best wishes,

Nick Armitage
