Year 6’s unforgettable trip to France!

Year 6 stayed at Château du Broutel in the historical town of Rue, France, for a week of fun, food, factual visits and French experiences!

After travelling across the channel via Eurotunnel, they kicked off their exciting week in France with a delicious dinner at their beautiful chateau, where they were introduced to its fascinating history. After enjoying a tour of the local area, it was time to rest up for what promised to be a busy week ahead!

Day 2 brought even more adventure, with the children exploring an underground city and feeding baby goats at a local farm. In the evening, they learned how to play the traditional French game, pétanque and burned off some energy with some volleyball.

The fun didn’t stop there! On Day 3, after learning about the Battle of the Somme, they were moved by their visit to the battlefields. Their evening entertainment was a scavenger hunt around the grounds of the château.

Day 4 was packed with activities, starting with a visit to an old-fashioned sweet shop where they made, bought and ate some sweets before enjoying lunch on a sunny beach. In the afternoon, the group headed to Go Ape for some thrilling outdoor adventures before ending the day roasting marshmallows around a campfire.

As the trip came to a close, Year 6 made the most of their last day in France. They visited a snail farm this morning before heading home after an unforgettable experience at the château.

What an incredible week of exploration, learning, and fun! Au revoir, France!
