Year 5's inspiring trip to the Ashmolean Museum

Year 5 had a fabulous visit to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford on Tuesday 4th March.
The focus of our trip was on portrait paintings, and the children explored a range of artworks from the Renaissance to Modern Art. We looked closely at the clues in various paintings to learn more about the subjects, and our guide, Kate, was incredibly inspiring. She really opened our eyes and sparked our curiosity to learn more about the art.
A highlight of the tour was seeing paintings by Picasso, Morandi, and Kandinsky up close! The children asked thoughtful questions and displayed impressive knowledge throughout the visit. To wrap up, each child chose a portrait from the gallery to write about, and they all used their best sketching and drawing skills to capture the essence of their chosen piece.
